Hi Dan - for some reason I just checked out your blog and really enjoy reading about your outlook on biking and life. Are you aware of David Byrne's book about bicycling? I happened to come across it at Borders this weekend and although I have not read it, it looked like it may be right up your alley.

Hope all's well. Stay warm.
Gary

PS - When I lived in Manhattan I biked everywhere until while parked outside Time Life building for entire day someone stole my handlebars, gear shifters and brake controls. Only in NY!!!

I agree with you as well, but I grew up with only Apple in the house, I have to say the system is solid, you can do incredibles things in unix, but in the front end of the software it looks fabulous. I love it when I read a story of someone switching from PC to Mac. What a great adventure. LOL

Following up, my experience using it was terrific, and I think it has the potential to be really successful -- if people embrace Python and/or Google rolls out support for other languages soon.

Ah, very interesting. I love the idea of the device, but not the iTunes dependency. Looks like folks are opening them up for other apps:

http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/windows/

And here's a remote audio plugin for MediaMonkey, my current preferred audio app:

http://emilles.dyndns.org/software/out_apx.html

The problem with these is you don't have the controller with you in the room with the music. The nice thing about an iPod or other player is you can just skip a song right there.

I have a similar system at home, with the addition of a few Apple Airport Express units ($70 - $80 used on eBay) that run what Apple calls "Air Tunes". I then use any instance of iTunes in my house (also running my music collection that is stored on a ReadyNAS) to control what plays through my stereo (including internet radio).
