My new iPAQ arrived, and it’s really impressive.
I haven’t read anything yet, but just followed the instructions on screen. Basically, this thing can read handwriting surprisingly well. It makes the Palm stuff feel ancient. The screen is color, crisp, bright. The sounds are warm. The response is fast. I’m impressed.
There are detailed reviews elsewhere, but on first look it scores surprisingly well in terms of user experience. Just opening it, plugging it in and feeling it in your hand, seeing it respond. It is on the right side of technology, where it inspires confidence and generates excitement.
Using it during the day I’m finding it to be pretty good about letting you get to what you want quickly, easily, in cramped spaces while clutching other items. I’m going to experiment with getting MP3s onto a big CF card and playing them from there. The sound quality out of headphones is excellent, being able to carry a few photos of the family is super too.
