Linksys g-card Ripoff Rant

After working with tech support, trying all the drivers, and trying my shiny new WPC54G wireless card in two different Thinkpads with two different cardbus chipsets (TI and Ricoh), I can only conclude that Linksys is selling equipment that does not work at all.

What lurking processes slow your startup

I finally got fed up with the amount of time it was taking to boot my laptop. I rely on Hibernate most of the time, but it was just out of hand and worst of all…invisible. So I did some spelunking in the registry and found out exactly what was going on.

Spam Prevention

I’m now using a two-tiered approach with SpamAssassin at the server and SpamBayes on the client. SpamAssassin has been great but it’s a constant battle where the spammers periodically figure out how to slip more under its nose by tweaking the content patterns. So I put SpamBayes’ plug-in into Outlook 2k and it’s been doing an excellent job in the first few days of nabbing the runaways.

Wireless Nothing
